Npower stipends News

Npower is a social investment scheme initiated by President Muhammadu Buhari on 8th June 2016 in an attempt to boost the youths employment rate. The scheme was established as a core component of the National Social Investment program to cushion the skill acquisition training and capacity building in the beneficiaries.

The programme is accredited for graduates and non-graduates ranging from the age of 18-35 years. Applicants are shortlisted, followed by documentation/screening and then posted to their place of primary assignment across the 36 states of the federation.

The programme has six categories which includes N-Teach , N-Health , N-Build , N-Agro , N-Creative and N-Tech . N-Teach and N-Health are primary for graduate cadre who must have completed their one year mandatory National Youth Service Corp (NYSC), while N-Build, N-Agro, N-Creative and N-Tech are for non-graduates. In 2021, The National Social Investment Management has introduced a new stream of category known as the N-Knowledge.

NPOWER BATCH A

The online registration portal for Npower batch A enrollment started on 12th June, 2016. The portal was scheduled to close on 25th July 2016, but was later extended to 31 August 2016. A total of 350,000 youths applied but on 21st November 2016, 200,000 youths were shortlisted base on their performances on the online assessment test results.The Honourable Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development Haj. Sadiya Umar Farouq disclosed that the Batch A will be disengaged on June 30th 2020. They were scheduled to spent 24 months, but instead spent 43 months.

NPOWER BATCH B

The National Social Investment Programme opened it’s online registration portal for Batch B enrollment on 13th June 2017 and closed on the 27th July, 2017. The online registration received a total of 2,543,079 applications and which 300,000 beneficiaries were selected base on their performances in the online test assessment. Batch B beneficiaries reported to their place of primary assignment on 1st August, 2018. The Honourable Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development Haj. Sadiya Umar Farouq disclosed that the Batch A will be disengaged on 31st July, 2020.

NPOWER BATCH C

The online registration for Batch C commenced on 26th June, 2020. The Batch C programme targeted one million beneficiaries which will run in two streams. The Batch C has a new twist as it will only run for 12 months with two streams recruiting 500,000 per annum. The first stream reported to their place of primary assignment on September 4th, 2020.

NPOWER STIPENDS

The Npower stipends is paid base of education hierarchy and specialization. The stipends are as follows:

N-Teach #30,000

N-Health #30,000

N-Build #10,000

N-Agro #30,000

N-Creative #10,000

N-Knowledge #10,000

The Npower stipends for September and October has been paid, but November and December stipends is till pending.
